Sunday Get Together

Hello everybody, this week’s topic is about a memory about a food or meal we have, so let me start by saying I enjoy all kinds of foods for the most part. I am also sure I have too many memories that surround the subject of special meals. Therefore, with that said I will just let you all know that my family use to get together for Sunday meals.
I do not really know how we all fell out of the family Sunday meal but we have. Maybe it is because we all have busy lives now and more children running around then in the past, which just maybe no one wants to hear all the pitter-patter of little feet and all the screaming that goes along with six to seven little ones running around. For me though I do not mind it for a short amount time, as long as they all clean up after themselves. My husband who is the main cook for those meals has been working more this past year, which maybe does not help that we have not had a good Sunday meal in a while.
We all love the smell of a good roast in the oven, or a baked chicken getting crispy skin. Along with the steamed veggies on the side, the hot rolls that go right along with it.However, I think my favorite would have to be the different pasta and sauces my husband would come up with when he was home cooking. Cream sauces or hot red sauce with many different veggies mixed in. Yummy I am getting hungry just writing about it. Along with the hot garlic bread, that he would sometimes add tomatoes soaked in balsamic vinegar on top of. That would most likely be a favorite memory and favorite food of mine.
Now that I think about it, it is about time I got on the phone and called my family that live close and let them all know that we must make time for those Sunday dinners again no matter how busy we all maybe. Also maybe have each of the adults cook something different each week so we get to try every one’s cooking. I do believe it is time to get back to those joyful Sundays with everyone catching up with each other, instead of waiting for the holidays. To be able to hear the children run around also would be nice, since they do not stay small forever. Yeah, I do think it is time for family Sunday’s get together once again.

What I had to eat today.

As I start this blog for English 1102, I find myself looking more and more at the ingredients on boxes. Funny, I really never gave it any thought before now. Today's lunch was at Cracker Barrel with my niece Leann. I had the home made Chicken Pot Pie, loaded with fresh veggies like carrots and peas and taters and all white meat chicken. Now I really have no clue where all the ingredients came from, one would hope here in the states, maybe even from a local farm. Im sure that is wishful thinking on my part. Maybe I should have asked the server if she had any clue where the foods that where in the pot pie came from. That would have made for some conversations in the back of the kitchen I'm sure. Either way it was yummy. Right along with the warm biscuts with a little bit of butter. I had to have a Coke with it, because I felt I needed a push to get through the rest of my classes this afternoon. I very rarely drink any kinds of soda, but today I needed it. I ran out of the house this am with just coffee that didnt seem to work for me at all today. I knew I should have had something more then just the coffee, but when you wake up at  7:25 and your first class is at 8 doesn't leave you much time for anything now does it? Needless to say it wasn't till about 10:30 when I was able to get out and fill my belly. I had remembered that Cracker Barrel had the pot pies on Wednesday as a speical so thats right where we headed. I'm really glad I did cause it hit the spot and has kept me full for most of the day. Now as for dinner who knows what that is going to be. When no one is home to cook for, you tend to find something quick and easy like a sandwich or soup, heck maybe I will have both. Ofcourse that will be after I look at the ingredients on the can and the package of lunch meat I choose to have. I might just treat myself to a piece of candy afterwards. Happy Eatting Everyone.
